Rest In Peace My Little Birb 15/7/16

Kept getting upset over this.. For those who don't know, Birb was a cockatiel who we ended up adopting a year ago. My parents mistook her for one of our missing birds and had been rescued from someone's pool after almost being sucked up by the filter. When we brought her home, she was still slightly wet, smelled strong of chlorine and very skinny, we didn't think she'd last the night. She also had small wounds on her head and was missing the whole of her tail which was very painful. After a while she began to put on weight and get energetic and feisty and knew she was getting better although, she had this permanent wobble and lack of direction making doing anything very hard for her. Birb ended up getting very tame and affectionate with me and would call out to me when I would leave the room. She didn't have a normal cockatiel squeal and would just gurgle sounds, a lot of the sounds sounded like "burb" so we called her "Birb". Seeing she couldn't really do anything a normal bird could, she would just eat, drink and sleep. Her tail never really did grow back until the final months leading to her passing. She loved to sit in a particular food bowl and would hardly leave it unless I took her out, I guess she felt safe. We ended up taking the bowl out cause she was sitting in the main food source for the other birds and replaced it with a container. She still had that bowl, it just sat on my desk and I'd have her sit with me when I would draw. At night I started to put her in a plush bird hut as one of the other birds would attack her at night and she'd just sit there. leading up to her passing I noticed she was losing a lot of weight and her body heat was almost non existent. She would spend a lot of her time eating but hardly wanting to drink. The day she passed, my mum had said goodbye to them and called to birb and she apparently called back for the last time as mum and I went to the airport for the whole day and came home to find her hiding under a food tray recently gone.
Sorry for writing such a long thing about her. I just wanted to remember everything. It was only for a year but I've gotten so attached to her.

But yeah I made this I guess as tribute to her.
